Holiday Rental Cottage Suffolk

The restoration of Souters was completed in 2012 with most of the work being done by Nick. He also designed and built Gribbles shepherds hut which was completed in 2014 and forms the second bedroom.

Souters on its own is ideal for couples but a third person could be accommodated if they wish to use the sofa bed. Souters has a large sitting room with a high vaulted ceiling, a well equipped open plan kitchen, separate double bedroom and a shower room with power shower. It is all on one level and so suitable for less mobile guests, although there are sloping paths and steps from the parking area to the front door. There are two terraces so that you can enjoy the sun whatever the time of day. For the colder months, the property benefits from under floor heating. There is also a stylish modern wood burner which provides special warmth to a winter evening. A basket of logs and kindling is supplied, more fuel can be bought from Nick and Cath.

Gribbles is a luxury shepherds hut; it has a full sized double bed with single truckle bed underneath, it is connected to the mains services, has LED lighting throughout, an en suite with a large shower tray and mains pressure hot water, WC, wash hand basin and heated towel rail. The shower room also benefits from under floor heating. The rest of Gribbles has thermostatically controlled electric heating, double glazed windows and doors and a high level of insulation making it suitable for use all year round. There are storage areas for clothes and facilities to make hot drinks. Wooden steps lead up to the entrance.Gribbles is suitable for all ages and great fun for youngsters but not really suitable for unsupervised children less than 12 years of age.

If Souters only is being rented it is possible to rent Gribbles for a couple of nights if friends or relatives would like to visit. Please contact us for details.

Another important feature is our personal service. From the initial enquiry right through to your arrival we can always be contacted and we are happy to answer any queries or provide more information. If you have any special requirements we will do our best to accommodate them. On arrival at Souters you will be greeted by either one of us, given a rundown of essentials and then left to enjoy your stay in private. However we can always be contacted if needed. Fresh flowers on the table, milk in the fridge and one of Cath's delicious homemade cakes, or scones and jam await every guest.

The interior of Souters is on one level. However, there are sloping paths and steps from the parking area and around the cottage and terrace. The private garden is surrounded by woods but is unfenced and so young children and dogs would need to be supervised. There is a barbecue, pizza oven and a seating area on the terrace. One basket of logs is supplied for use either in the woodburner or pizza oven; further fuel for sale can be found in the log store with firelighters, kindling and crates of logs with a price list and honesty box.

Well behaved dogs and their responsible owners are very welcome.  There is an additional charge, please enquire for details. An adjacent fenced field is accessible and suitable for letting dogs run loose.

Jubilee Wood

Nick and Cath are currently developing a woodland walk through Jubilee Wood which is adjacent to Souters. This will only be for the use of Souters guests and will include a picnic glade where guests would be welcome to pitch their tent for a nights camping.

Jubilee Wood is full of wildlife. To walk through (or sleep overnight) in the woods when the nightingales are in full voice in the spring is wonderful, although the sound of badgers squabbling at night is almost unearthly.

We love living here and sharing this special place with others. We hope you choose to visit.
